You may be unsure if you or your child would benefit from a psychological assessment, or have questions about the process. We offer a free 20-minute phone consultation to discuss concerns and determine if psychological testing through Venture Therapy is appropriate. Testing sessions are typically completed in two or three, two-hour appointments. After the testing is complete, an hour long feedback session will include a comprehensive written report of the results, recommendations and appropriate referral ideas. After the evaluation process is complete, we will continue to be available to answer any questions, clarify recommendations, and collaborate with educational and clinical providers.
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) symptoms and diagnoses are broken into three categories: predominantly inattentive, predominantly hyperactive/impulsive and combined. Common inattentive symptoms of ADHD include: often losing items, having difficulty completing tasks, distractibility, having mind wander when spoken to, and disorganization. Common hyperactive/impulsive symptoms of ADHD include: restlessness, fidgeting, difficulty remaining seated, excessive talking, interrupting others, and making decisions or acting without thinking about the consequences. Typical evaluations considering an ADHD diagnosis will include direct assessment of an individual’s intellectual and executive functioning abilities, as well as gathering in-depth information about an individual’s history and daily functioning in different environments through interviews and standardized rating scales as well as a comprehensive review of educational, medical and clinical records.
